This Universal law became widely popular with the release of the movie and best-selling book, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne.

The spiritual teachers that participated in The Secret were eager to share their knowledge. And, it was a wonderful introduction to the Law of Attraction. But, it was simply that, an introduction.

Therefore, some people misinterpreted the Law, or didn’t fully comprehend the true nature of this complex Universal Law. As a result, when people tried to “make it work” for them and didn’t get the desired results they became disillusioned.

So, is there a Law of Attraction secret? And, why does the Universal Law of Attraction seem to work for some people and not others?

The Universal Law

You may have heard that the Law of Attraction is based on the notion that you can get anything your heart desires if you:

  • Ask for what you want.
  • Visualize it.
  • Believe you can have it.

And, this is true to an extent. But, in order to manifest what you want into your life, let’s clear up some misconceptions.

The Law of Attraction is not:

  • something you learn how to do. You are continuously attracting things into your life at every moment! And, everybody has the same power to attract what they want.
  • a magic trick. The Law of Attraction is one of the 12 Universal Laws, not a magic spell or love potion that you can use to manipulate people or situations.
  • something that only works sometimes or if you’re lucky. The Law of Attraction never stops. It is a governing force in your life and you’re using it right now!

The Law of Attraction Secret is not a secret at all. The Law of Attraction isn’t something you do, it’s essentially who you are.

The Universe responds to everything. All of your thoughts, actions, words, emotions, and intentions are sent out into the Universe as a vibrational frequency.

As a result, you will attract everything that is resonating on that same frequency. And, this idea is supported by physics and the Universal Law of Vibration.

The Laws of the Universe sums it up perfectly. “All matter, thoughts and feelings has its own vibrational frequency. The thoughts, feelings and actions we choose also have their own particular rates of vibration.

These vibrations will set up resonance with whatever possesses identical frequency. In other words, your thoughts are inseparably connected to the rest of the universe.”

As the saying goes, like attracts like. So, when you choose good thoughts, more good thoughts of a similar nature will follow and you will also be in vibrational harmony with others with like thoughts.

The Law in Action

Imagine you wake up on a Monday morning dreading your work day. You may feel anxiety about an impossible coworker, the morning commute, or the long day ahead. Most likely, you’ve just manifested your entire day. And, it wasn’t very positive.

If you send the Universe feelings of anger and frustration, or you have negative, repetitive thoughts, the Universe will reflect all of that back to you. As a result, you feel unhappy or stuck, but that’s simply an illusion.

The Universe is fresh and new at every moment. Therefore, there’s always an opportunity for change and growth. So, it’s important to keep two things in mind:

  • When you send strong feelings out to the Universe, it responds in a big way! So, think about the emotions you feel most intensely. How you feel is the most important thing!
  • When your thoughts are repetitive, you are sending a very clear signal to the Universe about who you are. And, because the Universe doesn’t distinguish between wanting or not wanting something, it gives you back exactly what you’re thinking about!

A New Perspective

In order to make changes, you have to be aware of what you think about everyday. Experts estimate that you have between 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day. That’s an average of 2,500 to 3,300 thoughts per hour!

Change the Narrative

Ask yourself what thoughts are dominant in your mind? Obviously, you can’t remember all of them, but you will be able to identify the thoughts that repeat most often. If you want to change your pattern of thinking, try this exercise.

Write down 5 repetitive and negative (or unhelpful) thoughts you have everyday. These are the thoughts that keep you stuck! Whatever they are, you’re asking the Universe for more of that. Think about it this way, what you focus on grows.

And, if that is difficult, observe the moment through the lens of an outsider. This will take the emotion out of the situation and bring you back to your center.

Now, you have control over your thoughts and actions. You become less reactive and more mindful. As a result, you can consciously create your life rather than being controlled by outside circumstances and unchecked emotions.

Attract What You Want in 5 Steps

When you want something, the entire Universe will work on your behalf to make it happen. And, you won’t have to worry about how it will happen. The Universe will work out all the details for you behind the scenes.

All you have to do is know exactly what you desire, stay rooted in the present moment, and believe you already have the intended outcome. The Universe (God, the Creator) is always working behind the scenes for your highest good.

As we stated earlier, in order to manifest what you want, you have to align your thoughts, feelings, actions, words, and intentions for a purpose. When all of these things line up, you begin attracting the things you want. Here are some concrete steps you can start using now!

1. Go Inward

Every goal you have is like a seed you plant in your mind. When you get very clear about what you want, those seeds will begin to grow.

One way to do this is to build a vision board that illustrates your ideal life. Feel like the person you want to become. Think and behave as if you already have everything you desire. In other words, be better than your current circumstances.

Meditate

Meditation is the key to unlock your greatest potential. It’s an effective way to (literally) change your brain in positive, healthy ways. Daily meditation connects you to you higher self resulting in greater levels of confidence and self-esteem.

I’m addition, this ancient practice cultivates inner strength. So, rather than reacting to life you will start responding mindfully. When you start seeing yourself as an abundant, successful person, you become that person!

You may have the tendency to compare yourself to others and view some people as just lucky. But, it’s not luck that gives them a meaningful life experience. They’ve created daily habits that bring them joy, abundance, and success.

2. Keep it Quiet

Don’t tell anyone what you’re doing. People do not like anything pushes them outside of their comfort zone. So, when you share your hopes and dreams, they may try to discourage you, or even laugh.

This simply means they’re not ready to hear it. However, it could cause you to push your aspirations aside. So, keep it quiet. When the time is ready for you to talk about it, you will know.

3. Practice Gratitude

The Universe will not shower you with abundance if you’re not already grateful for what you have. This doesn’t mean you’re settling for an unhappy life situation. It simply means that you appreciate what you do have.

If you are unhappy, consider the lessons life may be trying to teach you. Show the Universe that you’re acknowledging your present circumstances. And, this is the first step, most important step, in changing them!

4. Be Positive

Think positive thoughts. You don’t have to you pretend everything is great all the time, but look on the bright side whenever possible.

If you’re going through a difficult time, learn how to sit with your emotions and honor them. Bring acceptance to the present moment. And, know that it’s okay to feel uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, this is where we sometimes get stuck. That’s because rather than working through the pain, you may continue to create the same reality. But, you do have the power to stop repeating old patterns.

When you are ready, re-frame the experience in your mind. The Universe is giving you the exact lesson you need to lay the groundwork for a better future. Ask yourself, what is life trying to teach me? When you understand that this experience is an opportunity for growth, you can use it to get to the next level.

Be kind, patient, and generous to yourself, and others through this process. Start accumulating good karma and invite joy and opportunity into your life. It may take some practice to get out of a negative head space but you can do it and you are worth it!

5. Ask, Visualize, Receive

Now it’s time to employ those three important steps to create a new reality.

1. Ask for what you want.

What does a successful look like to you? Before the Universe can give you an abundant and joyful life, you have to get very clear about what you want. This is the fun part. Ask for everything and anything you desire. Don’t hold back!

2. Visualize.

Choose images and quotes that match your ideal life and create a vision board! Create your own positive affirmations and repeat them daily.

3. Believe it will happen.

Finally, believe wholeheartedly that change can and will happen! Then, let go. Give control over to the Universe, or higher power.

Admittedly, this can be the hardest part because deep down you may not believe you are worthy of abundance, or you don’t believe change can happen. So, start small. Once you begin to see results, you will gain self-confidence and build momentum.

Unfortunately, when things do start going well you may self-sabotage. However, you don’t have to fall into this trap. By living mindfully, you can stop yourself from doing the things that have held you back all these years. It may take some time, but don’t give up!

Carpe Diem!

Taking steps in the direction of your dreams can be scary and uncomfortable. But, eventually, putting yourself out there will become your new normal. When it’s time to take action, you will know what to do. Opportunities will open up to you, and things you would have never anticipated will start happening.

Allow your path to unfold naturally. And, don’t worry, the Universe will give you lots of signs! Just push the fear aside and follow your instincts.
