Find Your Voice Now With These 3 Effective Techniques!
*Updated September 2024
What does it mean to find your voice? In today’s society, finding your voice may be interpreted as being the loudest voice in the room. However, for me, finding my voice was something more personal, and in my opinion, more powerful. So, is it time for you to find your voice and take back your personal power? It just might be!
Many of us, at one time or another, have agreed with someone else when we secretly didn’t agree with them at all! For instance, have you ever found yourself nodding yes when you really wanted to say “No!”
You may be trying to avoid confrontation or an uncomfortable situation. But, sometimes there’s an underlying fear that prevents you from speaking out.
Are You Giving Away Your Power?
When you decide to push aside your own feelings and opinions in favor of someone else’s, you’re essentially giving away your power. And, this happens for a few reasons. You may not want to “rock the boat” or bring attention to yourself. But, it’s all too easy to become conditioned to go with the flow, even when your intuition tells you differently.

You cannot live an authentic life if you allow society to set your moral compass. So, what does it mean to find your voice? It simply means that you are willing to live your truth unapologetically. Essentially, it’s you doing you!
Always honor your gut feeling. Start being mindful of what your inner guidance system is telling you. Your emotional reactions can be much more in tune with your personal truth than you realize.
Agree to Disagree
You can’t live your best life if someone else is influencing you to go against your gut feeling. So, if you don’t agree with someone or something, don’t feel pressure to say that you do. Learn to set boundaries that make you feel comfortable.
Know What You Stand For
When you have an unwavering connection to your personal truth, your voice becomes a source of strength and a guiding light to others. In this way, you create a better world for you and everyone around you!
When you find your voice, you’ll be well equipped to set boundaries with others. Your time, along with your happiness and peace of mind, are valuable. So, act that way! You can then use your personal power to connect with others in your unique and authentic way. And, everyone around you will reap the benefits!
What’s Stopping You?
One obstacle, however, is not wanting to let others down. Although this is understandable, being too accommodating can negatively affect your health, and even cause you to feel bad about yourself or resentful of others. So, when you want to say no, just say it!
Excuses aren’t necessary. If you feel compelled to give a reason, just say, “That doesn’t work with my schedule.” However, don’t be afraid to make an alternate suggestion. In this way, you can still nurture your relationships, but in a way that makes you comfortable. And, this will help you to find your voice and take back your personal power!
You might be used to deferring your dreams or catering to the needs of others. So, when you do find your voice, a few people in your life may not like it. And, that’s okay! People who didn’t truly value your friendship, or those who took advantage of your agreeable nature, will naturally fall away.
Your Own Agenda
Whether a social engagement, work event, or anything else you feel obligated to do, consider the implications before responding.
You deserve some “me” time. So, create a schedule that allows you to practice yoga, make a healthy dinner for the family, meditate, or spend quality time with the people who are most important to you. Any activity that enriches the quality of your life and reduces stress should be a top priority!
When you find your voice, you don’t have to become selfish. But, you can choose to stay true to who you are.

Find Your Voice Now With These 3 Effective Techniques!
You have your own unique perspective, so don’t be shy about sharing it with the world. It’s time to find your voice and take back your personal power.
1. Learn how to cultivate moments of stillness.
Learning how to be still is essential when you want to consciously create your life experiences. You can do this through meditation, or through spending time in nature. And, your physical body loves when it’s acknowledged. So, make it a priority to reconnect to your body and inner self.
You only need 15 minutes per day to ease your mind, reawaken spirit, and quiet the emotional disturbances that fill your daily life.
2. Get excited about life again.
Get excited about life again by pursuing your passions. Identify the things in your life that get your heart pumping and evoke a strong emotional response. Anything that creates a joyful feeling of excitement and love inside you is your passion. It is something that both feels good and is good for you.
For example, you may lose yourself in playing a sport, writing, singing, or creating art. Minutes, then hours, can go by, but you’re still lost in the activity. This simply means that you’re in the flow of life. And, there’s your magic!
When you contribute to the world in this way, you are sharing your authentic self with others.
3. Connect to self.
If you have difficulty finding your voice, it may be because you don’t have a strong connection to self. This is most likely rooted in childhood experiences. However, there are some key things you can do now to raise your self-esteem.
For instance, you can go inward and re-parent your inner child. You can also meditate and practice yoga.
These are all effective ways to find you voice, build confidence, and consciously create the wonderful life you deserve.
Every New Phase Requires a New You
When you find your voice and take back your power, it will be uncomfortable at first. But, by simply doing your best, you’ve already achieved success!
Now is the time to realize your true potential. Let your behaviors, words, and actions show the world who you truly are and what you stand for! Whether you speak quietly or roar, it doesn’t matter. Find your voice and leave the world a better place for having had you in it!

I think too often we give away our power. I feel I am doing this less and less the older I get. I just know more of who I am now and what I will and won’t do. This is an important lesson for women to learn.

I have recently discovered how little I know what I stand for. That’s pretty sad. I am on my way to discovering my voice this year and I thank you for the encouragement.

Hi Tami, we spend so much time doing what we need to do, especially for others, that we sometimes don’t think too much about what is important to us. I’m so happy that you’re on your way to discovering your voice. Keep up the good work! Melissa
