Meditation is extremely healing. and beneficial to your health. When you incorporate meditation into your daily routine, it will transform the quality of your experiences. It may also shift your life in exciting ways. However, it can be tough to get started.

How we talk ourselves out of it:

  • I don’t have time.
  • It doesn’t “work.”
  • I’m too busy.
  • It’s too touchy feely.
  • Only New Age people do that.
  • I’m too old to start something new.

And, I’m guilty of saying some of these things myself. But, none are true! When you entertain a list of excuses, you are telling the Universal power that you are happy to stay exactly where you are in life. You are expressing contentment with your current life situation.

However, we are all here for the purpose of growth and expansion. Your comfort zone is safe. It can give you the illusion of having everything under control. However, you’re not meant to stay there! That’s where meditation comes in. Meditation can take your life to the next level. And, creating a meditation space is the best way to get started!

Getting Started

Meditation is a wonderful tool you can use now to connect to your deeper self. As a result, you’ll start co-creating your life with the higher, Universal power.

So, instead of simply reacting to the things that happen to you, you can learn how to use every experience for your personal growth.

When you approach life in this way, wonderful things that you never expected will start occurring. But, don’t take my word for it, find out first hand. Aren’t you curious to see the amazing surprises the Universe has in store for you? Creating a meditation space in your home will give you the push you need to get started right away!

Visualize

When it’s time to meditate, I like to play the part. I visualize myself waking each morning and going into my special meditation place. I feel comfortable and content as I settle in. I’m proud of my self for making personal growth and self care a priority. And, I see myself reaping the rewards of a regular meditation practice.

This helps me to get into the right head space. Visualization is a powerful technique I use often to spark change in my life! If you see yourself as someone who meditates, you’re much more likely to stay faithful to your daily practice. Visualizing and making small, purposeful, changes are easy ways to start making positive life changes!

Create the Perfect Meditation Space

Your surroundings have an strong effect on the way you feel, whether you realize it or not! Your home office may motivate you to get things done. Or, you may feel content and cozy in a living room or your bedroom.

And, the same principle applies to your meditation space. Therefore, it should remind you of your intention to create joy and abundance through your meditation practice. Here are some helpful ideas to create the perfect meditation space.

1. Choose a special area of your home.

Your special area will most likely be your favorite room. But, it could also be your patio or backyard garden. Get creative! You can turn any area of your home into your personal meditation space.

2. Smudge the meditation space to purify the air.

Personally, I’m ultra sensitive to the energy around me. And, we all are to some extent, even if you don’t realize it! So, grab an inexpensive smudging kit and clear any negative vibes that may be trapped in your meditation area.

And, smudging has a lot of benefits for your emotional state, so it’s an important step! According to an article by Susan Patterson in Natural Living Ideas, “The smoke helps to change the molecular structure of both the air and energy, which produces a cleansing effect. As the sense of smell is strongly linked in to memory and instinct, smudging is very effective for combating feels of anger, fear, anxiety, grief and depression.”

3. Bring the Outdoors Indoors

You want to create a beautiful space, but don’t go overboard. Too much clutter can be a distraction, so keep it spacious and embrace natural elements.

Add some fresh flowers from your garden or nurture a beautiful plant. Bringing the outdoors indoors has a wonderful, calming effect. Personally, I love how I feel when I’m in my mediation space because it’s a reflection of my connection to nature.

Also, incorporate personal items that are meaningful to you in order to create your own sacred meditation space.

4. Set the mood.

There are different schools of thought about whether or not you should listen to music while meditating. In a deeply traditional sense, music during meditation would be a big no-no.

However, this practice is widely accepted nowadays. I enjoy quiet meditation music in the background. Or, you may also want to listen to one of the Solfeggio frequencies.

These are electromagnetic tones that are known to heal and raise your consciousness. They form the basis of many ancient sacred music traditions, such as the Gregorian chants and Indian Sanskrit chants.

Live the Life You Envision

The more inviting your meditation space, the more likely you’ll be to use it. Have fun shopping for a few new items, but don’t break the bank. Simply, give it a personal touch and embrace the feeling of starting something new and inspiring.

Let everyone you live with know. You are creating a special meditation space to re-energize and refresh your spirit. Soon, you’ll be jumping out of bed in the morning. You’ll spend precious time in your own personal meditation room.

Remember, when you see yourself as as someone who lives a healthy and mindful lifestyle, you will become that person! We all have the tendency to look at happy, successful people as lucky. But, it’s not luck that gives them a beautiful life experience. They’ve created daily habits that bring them joy, abundance, and success. So, why not you? Namaste.

Do you have a special area of your home that you’d like to use as a mediation space? Or, maybe you already have one? How have you created Zen in your home?
