Make a Vision Board and Attract What You Want Now!
*Updated July 2024
A vision board is a personally constructed collage illustrating your future goals in detail. It represents everything you’d like accomplish in all areas of your life. It may sound like a fluffy, pie-in-the-sky activity, but it is a powerful visualization tool that will help you manifest your dreams. And, it’s a useful activity that’s backed by science!
There’s more to making your vision board than meets the eye. First of all, it’s a wonderful way to bring mindfulness into your life. You may have been surprised to learn that learn that this activity is based in neuroscience and brain elasticity! Brain neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s ability to adapt and restructure itself throughout a person’s lifetime.
By visualizing all of the wonderful things that you desire, your brain begins making new connections to support a new reality. And, by raising your vibrational frequency, you attract more of what you want.
More simply, it’s a valuable activity to share with your children or grandchildren. When used effectively, a vision board can spark incredible life changes!

Believe
Believing in yourself and your ability change your life is crucial to this process. Although it may take some time, it’s a necessary first step in reaching your goals. And, a vision board is an effective way to propel you forward on this journey.
The Universe is always listening and responding “Yes!” to everything. Therefore, you think, act, and speak your reality into existence. Even the intentions behind your actions have consequences. This is based on the Law of Cause of Effect, sometimes referred to as karma, that states that every single action produces a reaction, no matter what! As a result, your outer world is your creation and the sum of all that you do.
Get Clarity
Building your vision board will help you to focus on your expanded life vision and will give you the clarity to create what you truly want. Ultimately, it is clear message detailing what you expect from life.
A vision board provides the Universe with the tools it needs to support your new, upgraded life vision. Now, the Universe can begin to work everything out behind the scenes for your highest good. And, don’t worry; when it’s time to take action, the Universe will provide the perfect opportunity.
2 Effective Ways to Overcome Limiting Beliefs
Ideally, you want transformation to happen quickly, and it may. However, if change comes slowly or not at all, you most likely have to overcome your limiting beliefs first.
Limiting beliefs are the beliefs you developed in childhood that prevent you from taking risks in your adult life. And, they probably have very little to do with who you are today! Any reoccurring problem in your life stems from the limiting beliefs you have. So, in order to overcome these false beliefs, you first have to identify them.
Although this might seem difficult, it’s a lot easier than you think! There are two simple and effective ways to do this.
- First, look at what’s not working in your life. Your problems are a clear an indication of your limiting beliefs. What underlying thoughts created these issues?
- Then observe your thoughts. You have approximately 70,000 a day. Studies show that a majority of them are repetitive and negative. So, what do you think about everyday That’s exactly what you’re creating.
Once you start noticing behavioral and thought patterns that support this false self-concept, you can stop reacting in familiar ways, and start responding to life consciously. (If you want to read more about limiting beliefs, click here. If you want to find out how I changed my life, click here.)
Repetition and Emotion
By constructing and using a vision board, you are tapping into the two key ways that brain research has proven will change your brain: repetition and strong emotion.
Therefore, by using your vision board, and looking at it these inspiring images everyday, you are repeating a habit. And by connecting to this new version of yourself, you stimulate the elevated emotions of love, excitement, and gratitude. These feelings will become embedded into your conscious or subconscious mind. With the Law of Attraction on your side, the Universe will have no choice other than to match this vision to your reality.
Make a Vision Board
Creating a vision board is simple. Personally, my vision boards are basic, but you can be as artistic as you like.
What You’ll Need:
- any size poster board
- markers
- glue
- scissors
- old magazines
- favorite quotes or song lyrics
- images and words that inspire
A Visualization Strategy
And, deciding exactly what you want is key. I’m sure you have some idea of what your ideal life looks like, but now is the perfect time to bring your dreams into focus! Here’s a little trick.
- Sit quietly and relax your breathing.
- Think of your perfect day. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? How do you feel?
- Take this image and expand it.
- Consider each area of your life: family, financial, career, home life, leisure time.
- Create a list of two or three things you want the most under each one. And, remember, you deserve all the joy and abundance life has to offer, so don’t hold back!
- Search for the perfect images by using magazines or sites like Pinterest or Instagram. Include photographs, song lyrics, quotes, inspiring words, and positive affirmations, as well.
For example, let’s say you want to update your kitchen. Under home life, cut out pictures of the new cabinets and appliances you want. Find images from a Home Design magazine that match the picture in your mind. Be as specific as possible, right down to the color, style, the brand name, and even the hardware.
Remember, as you grow and evolve, you can add to your vision board at any time, or even change it. And, it doesn’t have to be completed all at once. The important thing is to get started now!
Putting Your Vision Board Together
- Map out the images in a way that makes sense to you.
- Glue them onto the board in an attractive, organized way.
- Put your vision board somewhere convenient so you can look at it often.
- Visualize your ideal life situation every chance you get!
Leaving Your Comfort Zone
When you build your vision board and begin using it, things will change! That’s because when you vibrate at a higher level, whatever is not vibrating at that same frequency will naturally disappear from your life. And, the people and experiences that match your new, elevated vibrational frequency will start showing up.
This can result in some pretty big changes, like the end of a significant relationship or a career change. It may even seem as if your life is falling apart. But, stay strong; this is simply the Universe realigning your life and creating space to accommodate your expanded vision.
If you’re not ready for it, there’s a good chance that you’ll self-sabotage because moving away from your comfort zone is scary. And, even though you are the one initiating these changes, you may not have expected such powerful results.
So, mentally prepare yourself because you can’t predict how things will play out. But, know for sure that your life will transform in positive ways.
Be Patient
Don’t concern yourself with how long it will take to see results from your vision board. The Universe works in its own time to give you the exact experiences you need to evolve to a higher place.
Then be prepared. There may be some lessons you have to learn along the way. For instance, you might have difficulty letting go of people or situations that no longer serve you. So, part of your process may be to detach from anything that no longer supports you in living your best life.
On the other hand, once you start using your vision board, changes may happen quickly. And, although this can be nerve-wracking, it will also empower you and bring you joy!
Have Fun!
Using a vision board is an effective and fun way to reach your goals and create your ideal life! More importantly, it’s an investment in yourself. If you don’t go after your dreams, nobody is going to do it for you. So, gather your courage and go for it. With the Universal Laws like the Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Attraction on your side, the sky’s the limit!

I know of a few people that created vision boards and felt they were effective. I’ve never created one but do well when I write down specific things to do or work for.

Hi Valerie, I think you do the most important piece, just getting it down on paper. Idk, but for some reason the Universe seems to respond to what we put down on paper! 🙂 Thanks for reaching out! Melissa
